The present set-up is designed to study the friction head losses through pipes, fittings, and flow metering devices. Four different ID sizes smooth pipes and one artificially roughened pipe is connected in parallel.A valve arrangement is provided to operate the one pipe at a time. Various types of fitting are also fitted with pressure taps to conduct the experiment. Flow meters (Venturimeter and Orificemeter) is also accompanies the set-up. For water circulation and flow rate determination sump tank & measuring tank are provided.The educational software and data –logging package has been developed for this unit. It is compatible to interfacing unit designed by CL Engineers.It provides a comprehensive educational software environment within which the investigations can be performed. This software runs in Windows XP. It is capable to tabulate the samples readings according to requirement of experiment under study and results obtained can be compared.Interfacing the set up with computer using software can do the real time data acquisition. Data can be transferred in Excel Files for further calculations,
plotting graphs etc. Software allows the user to have control on data logging, printing the stored data,preparing spread sheets in Excel etc.
